Biography:

Vicki Martin is a PhD Candidate in the School of Environment, Science and Engineering at Southern Cross University. Her research topic is the communication of marine science to the wider community, with a particular focus on using social science to improve the effectiveness of communication strategies. Dr David Lloyd is a Senior lecturer in the School of Environment, Science and Engineering at Southern Cross University. He has spent his career communicating science through a wide variety of mediums, and currently does weekly science and environment segments on ABC Radio. He also has extensive community development experience. Professor Les Christidis is director of the National Marine Science Centre in Coffs Harbour. Prior to this role, he spent most of his career working in museums, developing exhibition and cultural programs. He also continues to undertake his research in DNA analyses of terrestrial Australasian birds.
